NEW RELEASE: BITTERSWEET
Born and raised in Delray Beach, Valencia Michelle is a storyteller and proud Bahamian descendant. Her work spans stories and poetry rooted in Black womanhood, legacy, sensuality, and the lifelong work of healing.
Her writing is shaped by the rituals that hold us together. Grace whispered between breaths. Affirmations taped to mirrors. Prayers tucked into journals. She is drawn to the quiet, necessary work of Black women reclaiming their bodies, their desires, and their inner voices.
Her work speaks to women who hold everything together, even when no one is watching.
Valencia believes deeply in living a life of service. That commitment shows up in how she writes, how she loves, and how she moves through her community with care and intention.
She is wife to Jerraud Anderson, mother to Kyra Perry, Taysia Brown, Tyra Brown, and Jaylah Anderson, and “Nama” to Kaiser. These roles anchor her in love, lineage, and purpose.
Bittersweet is the first novel in The Brooks Legacy series, her love letter to Black women learning to breathe deeply, trust their bodies, and become themselves without apology.
When she is not writing, she is serving her community, singing loudly, reading deeply, traveling, or making memories with the people she loves.
“Words are meant to be felt. I write to remind us of that. —Valencia Michelle”
